Background

Gordon is a senior trust and corporate attorney with extensive experience in local and international estate planning, estate and trust administration, and corporate and commercial law. Gordon’s “service-based, solution-oriented” approach is appreciated by a variety of Bermudian and international clients.

Gordon practiced law in Toronto, Canada, from March 1971 to June 1994. As partner in a mid-sized Toronto law firm, he specialized in estate and personal tax planning and estate and trust administration. He was actively involved in legal education as a lecturer, instructor and seminar leader for estate planning and administration programmes conducted by the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Canadian Bar Association – Ontario (“the CBAO”). He is Past-Chairman of the CBAO Wills and Trusts Section and the CBAO Family Law Act Committee.

Since relocating to Bermuda, in 1994, Gordon has continued his practice in estate and personal tax planning and estate and trust administration and has added a corporate and commercial specialty. He has presented papers to various IBC Trust Conferences, the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Oklahoma Bar Association and the Strategy Institute (Toronto).

Gordon was born in Toronto, Canada, in 1944. He received a B.A. in 1966 and LL.B in 1969, both from the University of Toronto, Canada. He was called to the Bar in Ontario, Canada, in 1971 and in Bermuda in 1996. He is a member of the Bermuda Bar Association, the Law Society of Upper Canada, and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. He was appointed a Queen’s Counsel by the Lieutenant-Governor of Ontario in December, 1984.
