Steven Trumper is Senior Counsel and Head of the Corporate Department at Marshall Diel and Myers. Steven is a senior business lawyer with broad-based expertise in corporate-commercial law, including private equity, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, banking and commercial real estate development. Steve prides himself on providing practical advice and leadership on complex legal issues to counsel, senior management and directors. He was recently cited in Legal500.com as a "well-respected expert in Bermuda".
Steve acts for both international and Bermuda based clients. Recent transactions have included providing advice on off-shore fund formation for a large U.S. based insurance company, acting for the lead arranger on a $250M bond issuance to finance a bio-fuels project, the establishment of a new insurance and reinsurance companies in Bermuda, and several M&A transactions involving Bermuda- based businesses.
Steve is also responsible for managing Charter Corporate Services Ltd. Charter provides incorporation and corporate administration services for a growing portfolio of over 650 Bermuda incorporated companies.
Prior to joining Marshall Diel & Myers in 2007, Steven was a senior partner in the Business Law Department in the leading Toronto office of the law firm of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP where he practiced for over 25 years. Between 1995 and 1998, Steven was Managing Partner of Osler’s Hong Kong office, where he advised Canadian companies on international business law, including direct investment into China.
Steven attended the University of Western Ontario where he graduated with an Honours B.A. (gold Medalist in History). He attended Queen’s University Law School and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1982. He was called to the bar in Hong Kong in 1996 (now non-practicing).
Steve currently serves on the board of directors of the Bermuda International Business Association and chairs its International Marketing Committee. He is also a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council of the Queen’s University Faculty of Law.
